CBT Art Exhibit will celebrate the Syracuse University bonds of community and connection

Community Folk Art Center

Each Coming Back Together (CBT) weekend is a celebration of alumni talent. Nowhere is that more evident than the CBT Alumni Photo and Art Exhibit held at the Community Folk Art Center (CFAC) in conjunction with the reunion. The theme for this year’s exhibition is Community and Connection: Celebrating the bonds forged during time at Syracuse University and beyond, and the role of art in fostering connections.

“We are asking CBT alumni to submit personal photos and art that reflect shared experiences, landmarks, and memories, and creativity from the Syracuse University community through art,” says Dr. Tanisha Jackson, executive director of CFAC and assistant professor of African American studies. Alumni artists are invited to submit three to five images of their work that reflects the theme, along with a short biography or one-page resume and artist statement. Please click on this link to submit your artwork along with a short narrative that gives context for the images: https://communityfolkartcenter.org/artist-submission/. The deadline for submissions is August 1, 2024.

“As alumni, your experiences and memories are inextricably intertwined in the fabric of Syracuse University’s history, which should be evident through this exhibition,” says Jackson.

A reception with light refreshments will take place at CFAC during CBT weekend to celebrate all alumni artists included in the exhibit.
